RHIANNYN DOUGLAS, LABOR CANDIDATE FOR LONGMAN: Hi, I'm Rhiannyn Douglas, the Labor candidate for Longman, and it's fantastic to be joined today by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese here at the Morayfield Urgent Care Clinic. Our Urgent Clinic here sees about 100 patients a day and is helping them with urgent care for things like cuts and sprains and infections. I'm so proud that if we're re-elected, we'll open 50 more of these clinics across the country, including one here in Longman in Burpengary. Thank you, Prime Minister.
ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Labor created Medicare, and only Labor will strengthen Medicare. One way we've done that is through these Urgent Care Clinics that have seen around Australia over 1.2 million Australians get the health care they need when they needed it, and all they've needed is their Medicare card. And with another Urgent Care Clinic at Burpengary, it will make an even bigger difference, taking even more pressure off the emergency department of the local hospital.
JOURNALIST: Prime Minister, have you been briefed on the latest in Gaza? There's been air strikes from Israel.
PRIME MINISTER: I have and what we are calling upon is for all parties to respect the ceasefire and hostage release deal. We don't want to see innocent people suffer. There's already been enormous suffering there, which is why we're calling upon all parties to respect the ceasefire and hostage deal that was put in place.
JOURNALIST: Do you think the ceasefire is over or it can be salvaged?
PRIME MINISTER: We want to see the ceasefire be able to be implemented, and we want to see hostages released. I think Australians want to see peace in the region.
JOURNALIST: Will you or your government be making any attempts to speak with the Israeli government?
PRIME MINISTER: We'll continue to make representations. Australia will continue to stand up for peace and security in the region. Thank you.
