Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will travel to the United States from 23 to 26 October for an official visit hosted by President Joseph R Biden Jr in Washington DC.

The Australia-United States relationship is unique in scale, scope and significance, reflecting more than 100 years of partnership between our nations. This visit will be an opportunity for the Prime Minister and President to strengthen this important relationship and look ahead to the future.

I begin by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land on which we are meeting and I pay my respects to their elders, past, present and emerging.

I am proud to lead a Government that will give every Australian the opportunity to vote for Constitutional Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in our founding document, in a referendum later this year.

I welcome Therese and Jess and Marcus and all the members of the Rudd family who are with us today.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: I watched it here at the Lodge in Canberra. It was just so good. The Danes started so well. And they were really on the attack but amazing kicked by Fowler to set up Foord, and then she just put it away. It was magnificent. And then the second goal was just as good. It was just an awesome performance by the Matildas.

National Cabinet will next meet in Brisbane on 16 August 2023.

The key priority for the meeting is to discuss progress on housing and planning reforms, including proposals to increase housing supply and affordability.

Consistent with National Cabinet’s 2023 priorities, First Ministers will also discuss health reform ahead of a dedicated health meeting planned for later in 2023.
