My name's Ellie Whiteaker, and I am a Labor Senator-elect for Western Australia. It's so great to have the Prime Minister back here today off the back of the swearing in of the new Labor Cabinet yesterday in Canberra. And I think it's just another example of his deep commitment to Western Australia.

OLIVER PETERSON, HOST: I want to go to the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, who is in Perth. He's on his way to Jakarta and he's just phoned through. Prime Minister, congratulations on your re-election. Good afternoon.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will depart on the first international visit of his second term to meet with world leaders from 14 May to 20 May 2025.

Prime Minister Albanese will travel to Jakarta, Indonesia from 14 to 16 May 2025 to meet His Excellency Mr Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Indonesia was also Prime Minister Albanese’s first bilateral visit following his election in 2022.

The Prime Minister will be joined in Jakarta by Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Penny Wong and Minister for Home Affairs Tony Burke MP.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Well, welcome to your first ministry meeting of this term, the 48th Parliament. It is an incredible honour to be elected as a Member of Parliament, but an even greater honour to serve in the Executive of a Labor Government and it's important that we repay the faith and trust that's been placed in us on the 3rd of May. We are ahead, at this point, in 94 electorates. There is a possibility of a 95th. We'll wait and see as counting continues there.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Good afternoon. Last Saturday the Australian people voted for Labor and for Labor to keep building Australia's future. And that is certainly what we intend to do in this, our second term. We'll continue working hard, day and night, for all Australians. We have the largest ALP Caucus in history since Federation. A Caucus brimming with capacity, talent and energy in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. I think we're up to claiming 92 seats in the House of Representatives.

On Tuesday, 13 May 2025, I intend to recommend to the Governor-General the following makeup of my ministry.

Earlier this week, the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C), Professor Glyn Davis AC, advised me of his intention to resign, effective 16 June 2025.

I thank Professor Davis for his outstanding contribution as Secretary.

One of the key priorities of our Government’s first term was rebuilding the capacity of the Australian Public Service.

Good morning. Today is a momentous day for Catholics right around the world. And for the faithful here in Australia, it is an important day. And I join them in congratulating the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, Bishop of Rome, on his election overnight. As the first North American Pope, Pope Leo XIV's leadership comes at an important time for the Catholic Church and for the world. I will invite His Holiness Pope Leo to Australia for the International Eucharistic Congress which is being proudly hosted in 2028.
